Magnificent Sea Anemone Planula Larva
Radianthus magnifica (planula larva)

This tiny, ciliated larva drifts through warm tropical coastal waters after being released from a parent colony. It swims weakly with its cilia while searching for a suitable hard surface on which to settle. It does not yet feed, relying on stored yolk reserves during this brief dispersal phase. Chemical cues from reef habitats help it select a place to transform into a polyp.
