White Sturgeon Larva
Acipenser transmontanus (larva)

White sturgeon larvae drift and swim close to the bottoms of large rivers, seeking sheltered areas with gentle current. They feed first on tiny aquatic invertebrates and zooplankton, using their developing mouths to pick up prey. At this stage, the young fish are only a few centimetres long and are vulnerable to predatory fish.
