Upside-Down Jellyfish
Cassiopea andromeda

Adult upside-down jellyfish inhabit calm, sunlit lagoons, mangroves, and shallow sandy seabeds in tropical waters. They commonly rest bell-down with their frilled oral arms facing upward, where they capture plankton and organic particles. Symbiotic algae living in their tissues provide nutrients through photosynthesis, giving the jellyfish an unusual reliance on sunlight.
